Thank you for your interest in RADIESSE® wrinkle filler, the FDA–approved injectable implant that is aiming to become the new standard for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds. RADIESSE filler has long been used for vocal fold augmentation, maxillofacial augmentation, and radiographic tissue marking, and has become a premier dermal filler for aesthetic uses.
The benefit of a RADIESSE® wrinkle filler treatment is unique because it utilizes a calcium–based microsphere technology and stimulates the body to produce new collagen to instantly smooth out the signs of aging. RADIESSE cosmetic filler is safe and long lasting, giving your patients the convenience and longevity they desire.
RADIESSE® wrinkle filler consists of smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres that are suspended in a water-based gel carrier. Over time, as the patient's own soft tissue replaces the gel carrier, the newly formed collagen provides the desired long–term effect. These unique advantages make RADIESSE® filler treatments the ideal choice to fill moderate to severe wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds or marionette lines. This immediate and long lasting correction of facial wrinkles makes RADIESSE® wrinkle filler the natural choice for your practice and your patients.
Compared with other injectable fillers, RADIESSE® wrinkle filler offers significant advantages.

RADIESSE® wrinkle filler is an injectable implant composed of synthetically produced smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres (diameter of 25µm to 45µm) suspended in a sodium carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier. RADIESSE® wrinkle filler is approximately 30% CaHA and 70% gel carrier by volume.
RADIESSE® wrinkle filler is injected into the skin in a minimally invasive procedure. Injection of the product provides an immediate one–to–one correction of the face wrinkle. The amount of filling or augmentation can be easily placed and controlled for better results. There is no skin sensitivity testing or reconstitution required.
Over time, the gel is absorbed, and fibroblasts appear. The process of neocollagenesis begins, stimulating the gradual growth of the patient's own collagen. The collagen that forms results in extended correction times and increased patient satisfaction.
The cosmetic results are soft and natural–looking, and feel like the patient's own tissue. The results are long–lasting, but not permanent. The CaHA microspheres naturally degrade to calcium and phosphate ions, which are metabolized by the body's normal processes.
Upon injection, RADIESSE® wrinkle filler immediately adds volume to facial features.
After two to three months, macrophages start to dissolve the sodium carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier. The CaHA microspheres remain.
Macrophages continue to dissolve the gel carrier. Fibroblasts form new collagen.
New resident tissue (collagen) surrounds the CaHA microspheres.
The CaHA microspheres degrade and are phagocytized and metabolized by macrophages.
Even the small fragments of CaHA are decomposed at the implant site, without evidence of migration.
